These Size Similar To

The Tolos Archetype 2.0 size similar to Vivobarefoot with a more true to size length, TYR barefoot shoes, and fit a little wider than Xero Shoes.

How I Suggest Sizing These

For most athletes and lifters, the Tolos Archetype 2.0 should fit true to size. The Tolos Archetype 2.0 sizes unisex! This model also works for more foot thicknesses compared to the original Archetype 1.0.

If you have narrow and medium-width feet, size these true to size.

If you have EE+ width feet, you may want to go up a half-size in these.

If you traditionally don't have much room at the end of your toe box, then you'll want to automatically go up a half size, too.

To Confirm: Tolos Sizing Guide

I always recommend spot-cleaning barefoot shoes and using a three-pronged approach to do it thoroughly.

I would suggest NOT putting your barefoot shoes in your washing and drying machines. Instead, follow the four steps below for properly cleaning cross-training shoes.

  • Step 1: Grab your barefoot shoes, a clean washcloth, a soft soap void of harsh dyes and fragrances, and lukewarm water.
  • Step 2: Get your washcloth wet with lukewarm water and dab less than a dime-sized amount of soap on the damp washcloth.
  • Step 3: Remove your barefoot shoe’s insoles and spot clean areas on the shoesthat need a little attention. Do not soak your shoes. Repeat this process of dampening your washcloth and rubbing trouble areas until your shoes look noticeably cleaner. If you have bright colorways, rub softly
to avoid ruining your shoe’s colorway.
  • Step 4:Once you’re satisfied with the appearance of your shoes, place them by a vent or dry area in your house and remove their insoles until thorougly dry.

All returns and exchanges are accepted for unworn, like-new shoes within 30-days. I cover your return costs!

Features worth knowing

The core construction details that I think are worth knowing before you buy!

1. POLYMESH UPPER

The polymesh sock-like upper of this model locks the feet down well when training and wearing these casually. You can also wear thinner or thicker socks while not feeling overly restricted in the Arch 2.0s.

2. TPU OVERLAY & WIDE TOE BOX

Do a lot of plyometrics, power exercises, or just like additional toe security? The abbreviated TPU layer provides a nice degree of security without feeling overbearing or "pinchy".

3. RUBBER ROUNDED OUTSOLE

The rubber outsole wraps around the foot in a 360-like fashion giving this shoe a grippy feel in all settings. Whether you're walking, lifting, or running, these will promote grip in all directions.

4. PADDED BOOTIE CONSTRUCTION

The padded bootie is comfortable and functional while promoting a "normal" and traditional appearance. Two tongue and heel tabs help make it easy to get these on and off.

Lifting Thresholds and My Assessment

This shoe works well for lifting and athletic performance settings. For example, if you like to lift and jump in a single workout, these are a great fit for you.

Below are a few of the core and top lifting tests I've done in them.

  • 505 lb deadlifts. Good width, grip, and ground feel. There's a reason the Tolos Archetype 2.0 make my best deadlift shoes list.
  • 335 lb box squats. Not bad at all for being a hybrid shoe. Grip is key. The upper locks the feet down and the outsole grips well even when in wider
    stances.
  • 205 lb reverse lunge. Great flexibility. The bootie-style construction helps this shoe move with the foot. If you like hitting legs in your socks, these will feel similar.
Cross Training Assessment

The Archetype 2.0 is awesome in cross-training contexts. This is due to its upper, outsole, and fit. Since the outsole is rounded and grippy you get a nice 360-like grip. Whether you're jumping forwards, laterally, or backwards, these won't slip on you.

The upper and TPU toe box wrap also do a great job at locking the feet down. If you're tired of spilling over the sole of your knit barefoot shoes, then it may be time to consider the Archetype 2.0s.

Running, Walking and Comfort

For running, these are okay. They can work for sprints and shorter distances, but may run a little too warm for longer runs. Keep this is mind if you're looking for that running-focused barefoot shoe.

For walking and daily wear, I love the Archetype 2.0. There's a reason they're one of my go-to barefoot shoes for travel and business casual settings. I also appreciate how easy it is to clean the upper on these shoes. They can be a good all-season shoe for the most part.
